Wailua Homesteads Dog Park - Cleopatra

Some dogs prefer blonds, others redheads, I will admit it. I have a thing for French Mastiff girls. I have sniffed four in real life, (and an English as well), so I have some idea what I am talking about. But Cleo is the hottest chick on island in my book.

My biggest walk yet

Stephen isn't supposed to walk much, but Kathy had the dog crate transfer vehicle today so he took me to the bike path. We saw lots of big machines where they are rebuilding the seawall on Moana Kai. Then we went over the bridge in front of Pono Kai. Some men were re-pouring concrete, others were spraying grass seed, that looked like fun. I walked close the whole time.

We saw a dim yellow, grey and blue rainbow. Then there were two humans practicing agility by walking on a tightrope. Next Stephen took me through Kapaa for two blocks until the sidewalks were too crowded and we made our way back home. I did good, got lots of treats.

Rad and Mahina at the Wailua Homesteads Dog Park

We all got to go to the dog park today. My limp is getting better and I played the play bow and running game with two fun pits. Rad is better at it, but it was fun running with Mahina too.

Then as it started to get dark, we played the rope chew toy keep away game. Those poor pits did have a chance and I was already on lead to take me home. Even the humans noticed it was a gazillion to zero and there were two of them.

Hey Yogi,

I am a ball dog too. I love it when Mike plays Chuckit! with me. Here is a photo taken on Admiralty Inlet.

A lovely weekend

Ever since I escaped from my dog crate and jumped out of the truck while it was driving, I have a bit of pain in my hips. It takes me off my game of Chuckit! ball and makes stairs less fun. It will be hard to pull that one off again though, they tie my crate door shut every time. Anyway, they took me to All Creatures Great & Small veterinarian service. Dr. Ihor Basko is pretty cool.

Not only were they nice to me and quick to hand out the probiotic treats, but told Stephen he needed to feed me red meat, eggs and sweet potatoes. They certainly have the right attitude.

Then he said I need to wade in the ocean every day. Don't get me wrong, I like the beach, it is fun to dig in the sand and chase the little crabs. But go in the water?  Have you never watched Jaws?

Today was Sunday and I was left alone again when everybody went to church. But Stephen gave me some meat when he got back, freshly cooked meat is even better than kibbles. Then they took me to the Wailua Homesteads dog park. Stephen will not throw the ball a long way, because of my legs, but it was still fun. I love the Chuckit! whistler ball. Sometimes I just look at it and smile.

Today, I met a new friend, Laakea. He is very fast and he knows how to play the run game. After we did the appropriate Sniff In Real Life, he did a play bow and took off.

We did that for several good runs. Then I did the play bow and jumped around and off we went again.

We joined the Kauai North Shore Dog Park

It is really cool, it is a project of the North Shore Community Foundation. The park has many dog toys that are pre-slobbered and "chaoarticly" arranged, (you would have to be a dog to understand). The humans appear to be more social there, they like to talk, but there is usually someone willing to launch a tennis ball. I am glad I was able to convince Stephen to join. The water station is on concrete so it is not as muddy as my main dog park, (Wailua Homesteads Dog Park). That is kind of a bummer, on hot days, I like to lay down in the mud.

Haku

Haku, (crown of fresh flowers), is my friend. She came to the dog park. She is seven months old. I get her confused with her male pack mate, but I think she is a blue nose pit and he is a red nose. To be honest, I have met a lot of grey pits and their noses all look alike to me. She is just getting re-introduced to the dog park. Some dog jumped into the back of her truck and bit her on the nose.
